My name is Kulsum Bukhari. I graduated in law in the 1980s. Some years later I went back to college and attained several qualifications in fashion and design. I am trading on the Internet under a company called Xanam.

Xanam sells ready made head dress designed for the modern day girls. These designs took me many years of hard work to complete. These designs cannot be bought from anywhere else. Clothing is very important to women and I found that there was very little choice available for women who wished to comply with Islamic requirements. My hijabs are beautiful and will help young people have more pride in their appearance.

I wanted to design something that looked elegant, feminine, graceful and complied with Islamic requirements. For inspiration, I looked at Muslim cultures around the world. Although, information on Islamic women s dress is very sparse, there is literature on Iranian, central Asian, Indian and African women s dress. Upon a closer inspection of all the Muslim countries it transpired that at times of prosperity Muslim women s fashion has been very innovative.

In fact at different epochs of history Islamic fashion went through some of the most creative phases in the world and thus inspired western fashion in its wake. My designs reflect the mood of confident and empowered Muslim women of today. For the sake of convenience I have divided my head dress into two categories (1) scarves and (2) hijabs. Scarves can be worn by anybody including non-Muslims and hijabs are an Islamic headdress.

The Eskimo and gypsy styled scarves can be worn by anyone as elegant accessories.

Noor, Shaban and Sinbad comply with Islamic requirements of covering one s hair and are suitable for Muslim women. You simply slip the hijab on without the need for safety pins.

Both these scarves and hijabs make perfect gifts on birthdays, Eids and even general everyday wear. Clearly, you can t do better than buy one of my scarves or hijabs if you are simply updating your wardrobe. These scarves can give you a fresh summer look, or keep you snug and warm in winter.

If you require a style change to one of our products, we may be able to make an alteration to our designs so please ask. We aim to have flexibility in the choice of colours, fabrics and even designs where possible. We shall make every effort in delivering our goods to you in the best condition. Our delivery is usually within 2 to 3 weeks, (you will be notified when this is not possible). Large orders may take longer. If our goods do not reach you in perfect condition or you are not happy please return them to us within 12 days and we will refund your money except the postage. The Large orders will be subject to terms and conditions of contract.

MATRIMONIAL AND MEET UPS

I think the majority of Muslims consider it their business to voice opposition to unmarried people mixing but do not consider it their business to introduce unmarried people to suitable partners. It is clearly difficult to meet compatible partners and the older ones find it even more difficult if not impossible to find partners. There is a need nowadays to provide a service whereby Muslim singles, divorced and widowed people can meet each other with the intention of getting married or simply socialising. I am looking therefore for good people out there to organise meet ups in their local areas.
